Toronto City Hall & Nathan Phillips Square – Toronto, June 2007

SBC, in partnership with the City of Toronto and the Clinton Foundation, organized a one-day Design Charrette focusing on energy and environmental improvements that might be made to Toronto’s City Hall and Nathan Phillips Square.

More than 50 professionals from a variety of disciplines including design, engineering, operations, and buildings performance spent the day brainstorming ideas and concepts that will help realize Mayor David Miller’s vision of making Toronto City Hall the “greenest city hall in North America”.

Three teams addressed the various issues, culminating in a presentation and final report that describes a variety of technologies and activities that can be undertaken to achieve dramatic decreases in energy and water use, eventually leading to a building which will be a showcase of sustainability.
