Sustainable Development Evalution System (SDES) Policy – East Gwillimbury, January 2010

The purpose of this Design Charrette was to test the relative merits of five elements of the Town of East Gwillimbury’s Sustainable Development Evaluation System (SDES) Policy, while maintaining the economic feasibility of the project and Engineered Air’s Corporate Building brand image.

The five elements investigated were energy efficiency, water efficiency, heat island reduction, stormwater management, and waste diversion. Engineered Air would like to work with the Town to create a green development equivalency for LEED.

A project concept by Engineered Air (owner) and Rice Commercial Group (developer) to develop a 110,000 square foot manufacturing facility in the town with capacity for a future 105,000 square foot building was used as the test subject.
