On January 27-28, 2005, SBC and the Parkdale Liberty Economic Development Corporation (PLEDC, now the Parkdale Community Development Group) held a two-day Design Charrette for sustainable, affordable housing.  With key funding support from Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation (CMHC), Enbridge Gas Distribution, and Natural Resources Canada participants were challenged to add 20 rental units to a site with two existing buildings either through renovation or new construction.

The event attracted more than 40 participants representing architects, engineers, planners, housing workers, building operators, and a variety of technology specialists.
