He is a Partner at DIALOG, an integrated design practice where planners, architects, engineers, and designers collaborate to create some of Canada’s greenest buildings and communities. With a background in Mechanical Engineering he always has a foot planted in technical details while encouraging project teams to strive for the highest level of sustainable performance.
Outline
Charles' presentation will focus on deep green retrofits of existing buildings particularly as they relate to greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions and improved occupant health. Framing this approach as critical for meeting a net zero future, Charles will share lessons learned from multiple dynamic projects. As important as the technical element to retrofits, the ‘positive’ angle is the potential of scaling these projects to get to net zero at the city scale, and using each project to rejuvenate neighbourhoods and increase community wellbeing.
