
Existing multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs) account for 18% of energy use in the residential sector. However, the energy performance in this sector is not improving despite technological developments and climate awareness. This paper summarizes a framework for condominiums to achieve a 50% energy reduction based on commercial office experience, a review of 182 condominium submissions into Ontario’s provincial database, and a peer review of the framework that offered challenges, opportunities and suggestions.
The framework recommends a phased approach to achieve short, medium, and long-term objectives to secure stakeholder support. The essential elements of people, process and products are provided that can lead to the framework’s objective of a 50% reduction.Read The Full White Paper Here!
