SBC is pleased to announce 2 new members to the Board: Sarah Keyes and Leith Moore. Sarah and Leith bring extensive experience in thought leadership, non-profit management and sustainable buildings solutions. SBC welcomes our new Board Members and thanks all those that applied for the positions.
While we welcome 2 new members, we are also saying goodbye to 2 of our long serving members, Arlene Gould and Jiri Skopek. Both were early supporters who committed to the vision of a non-profit organization that promoted sustainable building solutions outside the alignment with a building rating system. With her deep roots in interior design and post-secondary education Arlene ensured that we did not forget that green buildings are occupied by people and that the future really is in the hands of the next generation. As an architect, Jiri was an early adopter of green buildings rating systems and was instrumental in the development of BREEAM and the BOMA Go-Green program. Jiri also oversaw the creation of the Toronto 2030 District on behalf of SBC and represented SBC on a number of international initiatives. Both Arlene and Jiri were worthy recipients of SBC Lifetime Achievement Awards for their long-term commitment to the cause of sustainability in the built environment. SBC would like to thank both Arlene and Jiri for their un-wavering dedication and support and wishes them all the best.
