Energy Performance Contracts:
Taking the Risks Out of Energy Efficiency Retrofits in Buildings

Peter Love
President, Energy Services Association of Canada
Building owners often delay energy efficiency retrofits due to up-front costs and risk related to ROI uncertainty. Energy performance contracting is changing this paradigm. In recent years Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) have demonstrated with a high degree of certainty the ability to project and deliver energy savings and are using energy performance contracts to de-risk the process for building owners. ESCO’s can accelerate improvement by providing services at no upfront cost while generating consistent predictable payback from savings. Peter Love of love energy consultants will present best practices for energy performance contracts including case studies of recent retrofits highlighting the benefits to property owners.
