Alex is actively involved in a diverse range of sustainable urban projects as a partner with the Windmill Development Group, managing the new Toronto office. Current development projects include Union Lofts adaptive re-use, mixed-use projects in Toronto and Hamilton as well as the community scale project, Zibi, on the former Domtar lands in Ottawa. In addition to a development role, he also serves as a sustainability advisor and project manager to other developers, asset managers and social enterprises through Build Green Solutions. An architect with over 35 years of experience in design and development, he is strongly committed to a high standard of design and sustainability.
Previously, as Director of Development with Context Development, he built a number of innovative residential and mixed-use projects in Toronto including District Lofts, Mozo, Radio City and Spire, as well as three adaptive re-use projects: Kensington Market Lofts, Tip Top Lofts and The Loretto. Between 1985 and 1995 with General Leaseholds Limited, he developed and managed commercial projects, office and retail, throughout Ontario.
Alex has served as an advisor to many community organizations and non-profits as well as private land owners on development and sustainability issues. He is currently on the Board of the Annex Residents Association, the Friends of the Greenline and the Residential Intensification Advisory Panel for the Consumers Council of Canada.
