Commercial airtightness testing training
Free Educational Training workshops for commercial air tightness testing.
Sustainable Buildings Canada (SBC) is pleased to offer Air Tightness Testing Training Workshops for commercial and multifamily new construction buildings, delivered on behalf of Enbridge Gas.
This free training program is intended for individuals with an interest or background in building envelope design or building commissioning. Eligible participants may come from fields such as building enclosures, energy modelling, architecture, building sustainability, structural engineering, energy auditing, general contracting, or development. A statement of qualifications/experience is required as part of the application process.
The training consists of two parts:
Online pre-work (completed at your own pace)
One full-day in-person session
Online Pre-Work:
Participants must complete an online course with 7 modules prior to attending the in-person session. Each module includes reading materials, a recorded webinar, and a knowledge assessment. These components are designed to provide foundational knowledge and ensure participants are prepared to maximize the hands-on learning experience.
In-Person Training:
During the in-person session, participants will be guided through a series of hands-on, simulated air tightness tests. Activities include:
Temporary air sealing
Setting up and operating multiple blower doors using laptop software
Calculating testing parameters
Reviewing test results and reporting procedures
Instructors will cover key technical considerations and discuss the business of air tightness testing, with opportunities for one-on-one questions throughout the day.

This program is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to conduct air tightness testing on large buildings in Ontario’s evolving construction landscape.
